What if the weather is bad?

The Amalfi Coast generally experiences clear, dry, and sunny weather from April until November. Thunderstorms are not common, but if they do occur, they form in the afternoon due to extreme heat. You can avoid unnecessary risks by scheduling hikes early in the day. Meanwhile, hiking during a light rain is feasible as long as appropriate clothing is worn. In the event of severe weather, we can reschedule or find alternate activities for you.

When is the best time to visit the Amalfi Coast for walking holidays?

The ideal time to visit the Amalfi Coast is early spring (April to June) and fall (September to November) due to mild and dry weather. During summer, it might get too hot for a pleasant hike. However, July still offers good conditions earlier in the day. In August, on the other hand, Italians celebrate holidays, so the coast can get pretty busy aside from the high temperatures. We suggest visiting earlier or later. A walking holiday is possible even during winter, but that is also when rainfall is more common.

Is it possible to accommodate my dietary restrictions?

The accommodations usually provide breakfast options for both vegetarians and vegans. Additionally, finding restaurants that offer similar menus should not be a problem.

Are these vacations suitable for children?

Our walking holidays can be appropriate for kids if they are in good enough physical shape, as the paths are not technically demanding. To guarantee their safety and enjoyment, we suggest a minimum age of 8 years for children to join the tours.

What level of fitness is required for these vacations?

Our tours cater to everyone who is not a stranger to physical activity. We adapt the walking distance, elevation gain, and losses to make it less demanding, but you must still not underestimate the challenges. The paths often include steps that can be narrow and steep, sometimes with some exposure, so it might not be enjoyable for people afraid of heights. We suggest you bring hiking poles to help your knees do some of the hard work. You can prepare for our walking holidays by walking as many stairs as possible and getting used to the strain on your knees. However, if you still feel the hikes will be too challenging, the vast majority can be shortened and adjusted to your fitness level.

Which shoes are the most appropriate for walking on the Amalfi Coast?

Shoes are every hiker’s essential piece of equipment. Although the paths on the Amalfi Coast are largely well-trodden and even include steps, the ground can still be uneven. Therefore, we advise you to wear hiking boots with ankle support, preventing you from injuring yourself in case of fatigue. We also highly recommend bringing hiker poles to take some stress off your legs.

Is it advisable to travel by car or rent one?

While having a car might provide a slight increase in flexibility and independence, it’s not necessary, as you can mostly take a bus to reach the Amalfi Coast and travel between different locations there. Furthermore, traveling by bus will help you contribute to sustainable tourism by reducing your carbon footprint, and we fully support preserving the environment in its natural state.

How are the bus connections along the Amalfi Coast?

The bus connections are good, but if you are visiting when the coast is busy, it can happen that they are full and you have to wait for another. In such cases, if you wish to get started with your hikes early, you can always rely on taxis which we can coordinate for you.

My husband and I recently completed a Walking Holiday of the Amalfi Coast for 11 days, which was absolutely fantastic and the highlight of our trip to Italy. The travel agents who organised the tour Anja and Samo were very helpful, adjusting and customising it to suit our requests. The accomodation booked for us was very comfortable and the transfer of our luggage from hotel to hotel took place with no issues. Our hiking guides including Alessandra, Marcella and Diego were all exceptional. They were friendly, supportive and extremely knowledgable about the towns and regions we walked in. They ensured we had a fantastic experience creating memories, while enjoying the walking, the amazing views, the tasty food and the beautiful Italian culture. I highly recommend this walking tour and would encourage anyone who was planning a similar holiday to book through this company. It was a great way to see and experience the Amalfi Coast.

Walking Holidays Slovenia is great! They provided all of the information and made the arrangements for our self guided walk in Triglav National Park. We hiked to Vodnikov Dom the first day, then to the Seven Lakes Basin the second day, then back to Ribcev Laz the third day. The trails were well marked, and the GPS app recommended by Walking Holidays Slovenia was very helpful for keeping us on track. The trails were very rocky in places, which was a bit of a challenge for us, but it was so beautiful! Very much recommend this company!

We had an incredible time on the 5 day hut to hut hike in Croatia. The views were perfect, the accommodation much nicer than we imagined and we had a fantastic support guide - Ivan - who was very friendly and made the whole trip possible. We were also able to go to the beach most days after we finished our hiking and everything was very flexible. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

1) Stunningly beautiful places with perfect weather! Good balance of countryside and old city walking. 2) The Trip App was incredible!!! 5 stars! Loved the write ups on each location. The links to all restaurants, hotels, attractions, tickets! The GPS app also worked. 3) PERFECTLY located hotels and rooms with two beds and thoughtful staff! Loved being right in the old towns with amazing views. I did not mind carrying bags up or down in order to have the locations but much appreciated when we did have help with this 4) Breakfast being included with the rooms (even though there was a mix up the first morning). I don't like to have to plan breakfast spots and the buffets were incredible. 5) The kindness and promptness of the drivers, Nice transport vehicles and easy drop off and pick up points. Plus help with our bags. 6) The Walking Holidays Croatia team was helpful and easy to work with. We appreciate all they did to customize out trip.
